Laser Printers

The laser printer is a successor of the traditional computer printer. It differs from its predecessor in many noticeable ways. The noticeable changes can be seen in the richness and the high quality of text and images that a laser printer is able to produce. Due to this fact, laser printers enjoy many advantages over the traditional computer printers. These advantages may include factors such as the speed and the density of the graphics on the printed materials.

The reason why these printers are called “laser” printers is because they use laser rays or LED (Light Emitting Diodes) in order to burn the print on the papers.

The result you get is a hard copy material with high quality text and images along with well defined and narrowly spaced dots. One of the many best things that are clearly visible in laser printers is that they are easily able to print about 16-17 pages in less than a minute.

This means that laser printers are way better than inkjet printers, especially when it comes to delivering the results in a quick and efficient way. The fastest model of the laser printer is known to print about 12000 pages an hour and the color printer can print exactly half the amount, i.e., 6000 pages an hour.

Generally, laser printers that can print colored text and high quality images are more costly than the traditional monochrome laser printers. There are two types of laser printers that are available in the market, they are:

  • Cut sheet laser printer: These printers are perfect for homes and small offices. This device makes use of friction feed method, in order to move single sheets of paper into the device to be printed.
  • Continuous form laser printer: These printers are perfect for offices, where the amount of printing is in bulk. Unlike printing single sheets of materials, this device specializes in printing in continuous sheets of paper. They usually print the simple graphics, text and related documents.

When it comes to companies offering the best laser printers, names like Canon and Samsung rule the market. Laser printers can cost anywhere from 60 pounds to 500 pounds, depending upon the requirements.

When shopping for a laser printer, factors like paper compatibility and the capacity of the machine should be taken into consideration. Apart from printing ordinary documents, a laser printer is also expected to print letterheads and transparencies.
