Punches

(Click here to view our range of Hole Punches)

An essential tool for use in both homes and offices, punches cater to the primary document-binding requirement, i.e. to punch holes in stacks of paper. Standard punches available in the market comprise of three basic components, i.e. the large handle placed on the flat base, the metallic rams or spikes, and the removable tray placed underneath that is used for collecting the so-called by-product, i.e. rounded pieces of paper. Prices and functionalities however vary depending on the capacity of a punch, which is defined in terms of the thickness of a stack of paper that the punch can manage with ease.

Punches are quite useful because they allow you to secure your important documents in the most appropriate manner. Once you have successfully punched holes in your documents, you can either place them together in a file or use a wire-binding machine to complete the binding process. Both the options allow you to preserve your documents for longer and most importantly, make it possible for you to maintain your documents in an organized manner.

The best part however is that since there are virtually no operational costs and since punches are robust units requiring very little maintenance, you will be able to manage the documents in the least possible costs. To help you select the right punching tool, described below are two of the most common types available in the market.

Punches

Heavy-duty punches

Meant for use in large business and governmental organizations, heavy-duty punches are specially designed for handling heavy workload. Their metallic rams and spikes are made from special alloys that prevent rust and most importantly preserve the cutting edge of the rams over prolonged periods.

Heavy-duty punches can handle thick stacks of paper, a basic requirement in large organizations. They can also be used to make holes in thin metallic and plastic sheets. View Heavy Duty Punches.

Punches

Electric punches

Electric punches are meant for use in homes and small offices where the stacks are relatively thinner, but the binding needs are more or less the same. Although the basic functionality is the same, they are still different because you do not have to use your muscle power.

Both corded and cordless variants are available in the market and you can opt between the two based on your specific needs and requirements. View Electric Punches.

Punches are no doubt useful, but before you buy one, just make sure that you do your homework, i.e. analyse the market to locate the best deals available. You will thus be able to select the most appropriate punch and derive the associated benefits.
